About the project.

Our partner company, JONESPLAN, built the Children’s Discovery Garden, which is the second major garden at Tulsa Botanic Garden. It is two acres of a fantastical “wonderland” garden, offering experience-based learning opportunities that are highly relevant in today’s revolution towards outdoor learning.

The focal point of the garden is the “Stream Valley” which begins as water flowing through streams and ponds from the mouth of the “Spring Giant,” a 15-foot, hand-carved concrete creature. A tree fort, stone amphitheater, spiral mosaic walk, spitting animal sculptures, musical instruments, an art wall, and whimsical features are all surrounded by thousands of plants that further engage the senses.

Building on successful collaboration with the Architects and Owner during the construction of the Floral Terraces garden, JONESPLAN assisted again during preconstruction, and was hired as Construction Manager as Constructor.  The result is an architecturally beautiful and naturally playful space which was completed on time and within the control estimate.
